Eurochile survey: 81% of SMEs have a significant impact due to the COVID-19 crisis and 45% believe that they will not be able to continue operating in the face of mandatory quarantine
Survey carried out to 128 companies of different sizes and sectors that work with the Foundation – micro, small and medium – shows that 73% of them have already lost more than half of their usual income. Among the main measures they are requesting to mitigate the crisis are subsidies to keep jobs, postpone payment of taxes and a special program of loans for companies.
“Together against the coronavirus”: Eurochile calls to join the European platform that connects business solutions to support the health sector globally
To the date 550 organizations from practically all European countries and Taiwan have joined this platform, among which are 355 SMEs, 39 large companies, 27 universities, 35 R&D institutions, 19 associations and 11 hospitals- together they provide 1131 profiles of opportunities in areas such as products, society, services, investment and cooperation projects.

In this interview with Eurochile, Ambassador Idema talks about his country’s progress in implementing this trend, about opportunities for bilateral collaboration, the importance of a state policy that guides companies in this area and the support offered to the Foundation in the work it does to prepare this roadmap that will set the course for the circular economy in the country.
Diagnosis for roadmap identifies gaps, opportunities and challenges to establish the circular economy in Chile
Infrastructure, regulations, financing, and even the process of deindustrialization of the country in recent decades, account for a series of challenges to be addressed to implement the circular economy, according to a diagnosis prepared by the Eurochile Foundation. However, it points out, one of the most critical aspects “is the lack of awareness of the wide scope of this, which goes beyond recycling.” Nevertheless, there are opportunities to counter this scenario, mainly due to “the interest that exists today, in the public and private sectors, and the great convening power of the circular economy.” The final objective of the roadmap will be to provide a clear direction for the next 20 years, to allow an effective transition to the circular economy as a critical tool to face the economic, social and environmental challenges of the climate crisis.
Ministry of Environment officially initiates the Strategic Committee of the Circular Economy Roadmap led by Eurochile
The promotion of this trend in the country- green and sustainable, said the Minister of Environment, will be one of the best ways to ensure the economic reactivation, once the coronavirus pandemic has been overcome. From now on the committee will meet at least once a month, in a work that will be guided by the professionals of Eurochile, to define how the circular economy will be implemented in Chile.
